Overview

Located at the bustling corner of Banawe Avenue and Sta Catalina in Quezon City, Ohayo Banawe | Japanese Comfort Food invites diners into a cozy yet lively space that blends casual dining with the warmth of authentic Japanese flavors. As a staple among Metro Manila’s Japanese restaurants, Ohayo caters well to groups and families, making it an ideal spot for gatherings thanks to its spacious layout, ample parking, and a private upstairs area that can be reserved for events.

The menu highlights classic Japanese comfort dishes, thoughtfully curated for sharing and enjoyment. Signature items like the spicy salmon tanuke and salmon poke bowl stand out, offering bright, fresh flavors paired with satisfying textures. The poke bowl, in particular, earns praise for its refreshing quality, while the gyudon served in a stone pot provides a hearty, warming experience that feels both indulgent and familiar.

Those seeking familiar staples will find gratification in the ramen offerings, such as the tantanmen, which comes with an option to add extra spicy oil, enhancing the depth and kick of the broth. Donburi and tempura dishes also deliver, though some reviewers note that certain items, like the tuna sashimi, live up to their expectation better than others. The variety of appetizers, ranging from crispy chicken karaage to delicately fried ebi tempura, balance perfectly between comfort and satisfying crunch.

Beyond food, Ohayo’s atmosphere reflects thoughtful design for both casual dining and special occasions. The shared amenities are clean and functional, though some have mentioned a busy vibe during peak hours that slightly affects service speed and attentiveness. Nonetheless, the staff’s focus and alertness during these times help maintain a steady dining experience.

In terms of audience, Ohayo appeals broadly—from ramen lovers seeking a cozy solo meal to groups who appreciate the ease of sharing platters. The menu evolution over time shows a responsiveness to customer feedback, improving service and expanding flavor profiles without losing the essence of approachable Japanese comfort food. This balance makes Ohayo a reliable destination for those craving familiar, well-executed Japanese dishes with a touch of homeliness right in the heart of Quezon City.

Ohayo is a chain of Japanese restaurants in metro manila. The food they offer is what you can expect from a usual Japanese restaurant but they have platters that are good for sharing making this a good place for gatherings where friends can share the food. I liked the tantanmen I had and was even given extra spicy oil to make my ramen have a stronger kick. The tempura was ok as well. Plenty of parking up front. There's a shared toilet inside. Upstairs has a private area that can be closed for private events.

Tried something aside from their ramen. Salmon torched maki always hits the spot. Japanese curry is also good and may be good for up to 2 persons if you're not that hungry. Wish they had spice levels for the curry tho. Overall they improved their menu and service as compared from about 2 yrs ago.

Their ramen and donburi were very good but felt short changed with their tuna sashimi, I don't think it's worth the amount. Busy Sunday but staff remained focused and alert.

During this visit, we tried their agedashi tofu, poke bowl, ramen, shrimp roll, gyudon, and kakigori. My personal faves were the poke bowl which was refreshing and gyudon which was served in a stone pot. The kakigori was huge for 3 people.

Food is good but no longer stands out and the price is no longer value alternative compared to similar Japanese restos. I ordered Chicken kaarage don though it tasted delicious the chicken isn’t tender. Poach egg is fresh and the red tea didn’t taste like concentrated. Would have fared better if not for the slow service and unwelcoming servers. Place is neat and parking is available

I had a wonderful experience dining here! The staff were incredibly friendly, approachable, and very knowledgeable about the menu, which made the entire visit even more enjoyable. They were attentive and ensured that we had everything we needed throughout the meal. The Maki was absolutely delicious! It was fresh, flavorful, and easily one of the highlights of the meal. However, I had mixed feelings about the Ebi Bisque Ramen. While the soup itself was rich and packed with flavor, the noodles had a unique texture that I personally didn’t enjoy. It didn’t quite meet my expectations, but the overall dish still had redeeming qualities. Despite that, I still loved the overall experience. The ambiance was great, the staff’s service was excellent, and the food had some real standout moments. I left feeling satisfied and happy, and I would definitely come back again for another visit!

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while, and finally got the chance today! Had a small win at work this week, so I invited my parents out to dinner The food was AMAZING!!! Japanese cuisine has always been a comfort food for me, and I love it when it’s done right. Everything was flavorful and full of umami Our orders were just right for 3 people (including my senior parents), and the prices were fair, I think. Well, pretty much what you'd expect for the area and the times. The crew was superb too! Super friendly and respectful. Big thanks for accommodating my “no cucumber” Maki request I also appreciated the open kitchen. It’s always reassuring to see your food being prepared in a clean and safe space. They accept cash, card, and QR Ph for payments Highly recommend! :)

Ohayo serves warm comfort food and I love the place tbh! I just love the food so much, every cent is worth it. Their yuzu juice is one of my favorite as well, gyoza wasn't too oily
